EDIT: I'm leaving all my old deviations on this account. I decided it's too much of a hassle (and a bit of embarassment ) to re-upload everything to the new account, and I have quite a few memories here. So consider it an archive of my ancient art.

hello nobody!

Sooo. Firstly i am not dead, I just have been (obviously) very lazy with updates. But, believe it or not, I'll be getting more active soon.
As for now, I am going to be uploading some random WIP's and other pieces of art into my Scraps gallery. All of my art-related things will now be stored in my DeviantArt gallery. The reason for this sudden change is, well, i need more space to store things. I like to keep my computer clear and I have no external HD (yeah yeah, it's on my shopping list already for when i have the money)... and my PhotoBucket got full. And, this will probably force me to come to DeviantArt and be more active. So...woop.

Project Pokedex

OVERVIEW:

A database on all Pocket Monsters, including a resource of information, images, and drawings.

OBJECTIVES:

> Gather data on all Pokemon.
> Draw all 493 Pokemon (includes altered formes, does not include Shiny versions).

DETAILS:

This project has been on the waiting list for a few years now. Finally, it has begun. One Pokemon will ideally be submitted each day.

Our Pocket Monster Analyzer will display basic data that is known about the monster. For more information, please refer to the illustrious researcher, Eevee, or the renowned encyclopedia, Bulbapedia.


The websites listed at the bottom of the pictures are credit to me - 1st is my DA page here (obviously); the 2nd one, which is my webs.com site, is NOT open yet. It's just there for when it will be.. maybe in a few more months. I dunno. I suspect I will be pretty busy just trying to keep up with drawing 1 Pokemon a day.

As for the layout... I don't really like it. I hope someone will help me out with this, because it is an important aspect and I would like it to look nice. The background colors are directly taken from the type sprites in the game.

The tech details of the layout are brushes- Abstract and 2Bit-Twilight.

I am not going for a realistic look in my drawings. Realistic art is amazing, but stylized art is my true passion. I -want- them to be stylized, but I will draw them in my own way, regardless of what their official art may look like.

Please feel free to critique any of the artwork. I will highly appreciate well-thought-out comments.

As each evolutionary line is completed, I post a collection of images (mostly fanart) of those Pokemon at my LJ. If you would like to be featured in these collections, please note me here on DA. Again, my LJ is chaosoftwilight (journal is friends-only).

In the seriousness of realizing i am in the art field, and i am going to be doing art as a job, i think i lost sight of what drawing meant to me.

Drawing is calming and enjoyable for me when i am doing it, but i haven't been doing it very much for a long time. Whenever i think about drawing, my mind stops me and it starts to feel like a stressful affair. Art as a job means i will need to sell my creations. Drawing as a profession means i need to be good at it.

What if my art isn't going to come out the way i'd like it? What if my drawings become heavily analyzed and critiqued? Well.. that's a rather good thing as it'll help me grow, but i also want to have the freedom to draw whatever i want without people having to like it or not. And i want to post it online. It's not like i'm so afraid that i have to hide my art from people. I want to have a virtual gallery and have my friends be able to look at my stuff and enjoy it too.

The emotion you put into an art piece is a reflection of yourself. I want to draw more, i want to discover more of who i am. I want people to see who i am too. I feel that even my friends hardly know me enough. I can't fully describe myself in words online, nor can you fully understand me just by meeting me irl. There are certain styles and emotions that only come out in art (any form of it, whether you are an artist, dancer, musician, etc). That leads to [partly] why i wanted to become an artist in the first place - We can express ideals and feelings, and maybe touch someone's heart, with a picture.
